Community Interest

Successful planning applications were made to both Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC and the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority as the 20 acre site straddles both authority areas, and Planning was approved in 2010.

Prior to submission there was a public exhibition over two days in Hirwaun, and one day in Rhigos, to inform the public of our proposals and to address any concerns that were raised.

We have now established an Environmental Community Interest Company (CIC), and are inviting representatives from the local communities to help us administer the environmental benefits that Enviroparks will be bringing to those communities along with distributing funds as part of our planning obligations. Enviroparks will be making a contribution of 25p a tonne for the next 10 years to be used on community sustainability projects, and the CIC will decide collectively how this will be best spent.

We recognise that some local residents will have concerns about the development and that is the reason we have established the CIC to provide a forum for communication between Enviroparks and the local communities, sustaining our company policy of open and honest communication.

This is particularly important once the plant is operational as concerns can be addressed efficiently

We would very much welcome your involvement in joining Enviroparks Community Liaison C.I.C. Ltd and f you are interested in being a representative on the board of the CIC please contact us via Andrew.Williams@enviroparks.co.uk or telephone 01873 832119 for further information.
