Our Proposal

The proposal is to build an Enviropark at Hirwaun Industrial Estate on about 18 acres of land situated immediately south of Penderyn reservoir, fronted by Fifth Avenue.

An Enviropark is the name we have chosen to describe an integrated facility that recycles waste - primarily municipal and light industrial waste - and converts the non-recyclable portions into electricity. A key part of an Enviropark is the co-location of a high energy user to take advantage of the green energy produced on a local basis.

The process begins by sorting and removing recyclates such as glass, plastics, paper, wood and metal which are then sold.

This sorting process also separates organic waste (such as food waste) which is anaerobically digested to produce methane which is a fuel for electricity generators. We can also process food waste that has been separately collected.

Finally the residues from the anaerobic digestion and fractions not suitable for anaerobic digestion are further treated to produce a gas for use as fuel for electricity generators using a Plasma Gasifier.

Another process will take oily food wastes, along with animal by product wastes high in oil, and separate the oil which can be used as a fuel for electricity generators or converted to Biodiesel.

The whole site will be a “state of the art” facility built to a very high standard both aesthetically and from an engineering viewpoint.
