Did You Know?
Within 20 years we could be importing up to 80% of our gas from places as far away as Malaysia. If we think gas is expensive now, what will it cost then?

Enviroparks is a pioneer in the production of energy from the resource of waste, energy that will be used to power bespoke industrial sites throughout the country.
Enviroparks planning permission was granted in 2010 on its 20 acre site at Hirwaun to process 240,000 tonnes of waste every year using a sophisticated MRF, AD and Gasification.
Working with its consultants Costain, Wardell Armstrong and Pell Frischmann, Enviroparks have finalised a merchant facility concept with funding secured for the £170m development. In addition signifacant engineering assessments were completed in 2012 with Costain.
Initial site clearance commenced early 2013 to allow the development of the first phase of the project which has been designed to divert unprocessed and pre-processed commercial and industrial waste away from landfill and is targeting 150,000 tonnes of waste per year for 2014/15, expanding up to 240,000 tonnes per year in 2016 with the completion of the phase 2 energy production plant.
We are currently engaged in initial discussions with waste management companies to deliver waste to Enviroparks and would welcome discussions with any operators seeking longer term price security for final disposal of wastes or those who seek landfill diversion.

ENERGY CREATION THROUGH INNOVATION
Enviroparks is a pioneer in recognisng the need to site complementary technologies in one location to deliver efficiencies, and to allow space on the same site for the further commercial utilization of recyclates produced powered by the renewable energy generated on site.
To do this we employ an integrated combination of advanced, tried and tested technologies that is tailor made to each site, producing energy in the most efficient way possible, diverting non-hazardous waste away from landfill, and providing job opportunities and associated economic benefits to their host regions.
Our first development in Hirwaun, at the head of the South Wales Valleys is a £170m project that features a sophisticated Fuel Preparation Area, Advanced Anaerobic Digestion and Advanced Thermal Treatment to produce maximum energy with minimum residual waste and environmental impact. Hirwaun has been designed to the highest environmental standards, and will also provide local communities with energy efficiency benefits for decades to come.
A delivery team of industry-leading professionals is in place and we plan to be receiving waste on the 20 acre site by 2014.
Enviroparks Wales is just the start. We have established a Board with a breadth of senior level experience, adding my own extensive knowledge of the UK waste management sector to deliver a world-class company that will develop groundbreaking projects across the country under one common theme – energy creation through innovation.

M2 PressWIRE
March 30, 2012
March 30, 2012 Costain's drive to expand the services it offers ccustomers has achieved a notable milestone with the award of its first waste and energy consultancy contract. The agreement, worth up to £0.75 million in fees, is for client Enviroparks and is to provide a renewable energy park for Hirwaun, South Wales, where a mix of municipal, commercial and industrial waste will be prepared into a fuel from which electricity will be generated. The local planning authority is Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, within whose area Costain has a high reputation after undertaking a series of road contracts in recent years. Crucially, the council has already given planning permission for a waste plant on the site, with a view to it being operational in the 2014-15 timeframe. Read More
